Near Eastside Neighbors & Friends –
Thanks for reading! Here are a few of the things happening in and around our neighborhood for this week. If you’d like your event or activity posted here, make sure to send details to me at mfetter@jhbcc.org or give me a call at 808-2336.
You’ll notice that the format below is a little different due to some site changes. If you want to see one of the pictures larger, just click on it and it will pop up in a larger format.
Obviously, this isn’t all of the great things/news about what’s happening in our neighborhood. Make sure to check out the NESCO website https://nescocommunity.org for more info and a neighborhood calendar (which you can post to as well!). You can also check out the NESCO Facebook page at http://facebook.com/nescoindy
Thanks!

2014 Your Life Matters Decision House
I am writing to request your participation for an event hosted by the Indy Public Safety Foundation and Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Your Life Matters Decision House 2014 is the brainchild of Public Safety Director Troy Riggs. Originally implemented in 2010 in Corpus Christie, TX by then Town Manager Riggs, the idea is to visually educate young teens about the importance of good decision making. The event mission is to offer attendees an interactive/inside glimpse of bad decision making and the potential lifelong consequences that follow. The event will have several interactive components, one of which is a live action drama.
Another component of Your Life Matters Decision House is the opportunity to offer students an expo type event where they are able to meet and talk with representatives from various social service agencies. We would like to have 50 organizations with services or products helpful to teen’s mental/emotional needs for better decision making. Would you be willing to be a part of our event with a table presentation, information and giveaways for the students?
For your assistance in sending a staff member to provide information at your booth/table we will gladly recognize you as a corporate sponsor and will add your name and logo to any printed materials. We will also recognize you in our press release and any media interviews. I am confident that you will find the message for the event one that you as an organization will get behind.
The event is hosted by the Indy Public Safety Foundation and Bankers Life Fieldhouse with support of the following Public Safety agencies: IFD, IMPD, ACC, IEMS, DHS, Marion County Prosecutor’s office, Juvenile Courts and Family Advocacy.
Your Life Matters Decision House 2014 will take place on Monday, September 22, 2014 from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM – students will visit the Expo from 8:30 am to 10:00 am. It will be at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis at 125 S. Pennsylvania St. Parking will be free. The target audience for this event is IPS and Private Schools, with a focus on freshmen and sophomores. Set up time will be Sunday, September 21, 2014 (more details on this and parking will be provided in a confirmation email).
I have attached a FACT sheet with additional information about all the components of Your Life Matters Decision House 2014. Your Life Matters Decision House 2013 was a huge success but we need your help to make this event a success once again this year!
