John H. Boner Community Center

  • Children & Youth Department
    • We always have a need for positive adult role models that are interested in impacting the lives of youth through the EDGE afterschool program.  Roles could include someone to help with homework, tutor a specific student, or lead a group in a specific activity (i.e. martial arts, dance class, etc.).  We work with youth from K-12 grade and would place volunteers according to their skills and experience and interest in a specific grade.  Must have availability during afterschool hours.  Please contact Brittany Kronmiller, Director of Children & Youth at bkronmiller@jhbcc.org or by calling 808-2372
  • Chase Near Eastside Legacy Center

    • Volunteer Youth instructor
    • Volunteer personal trainer
    • Volunteer Senior instructor
    • If you would like to volunteer for any of these positions, please contact Ben Jones, Director – Chase Near Eastside Legacy Center at bjones@jhbcc.org or by calling 423-2000 x 3207

East 10th Street Civic Association

  • 10th Street maintenance – (year-round) We can always use more volunteers when it comes to maintaining our various properties and the attractiveness of East 10th Street in general. Previous experience in landscape maintenance, interest in gardening or flower beds is preferred, but not necessary. Also, if people have equipment, that would be wonderful, but again not required.
  • Concert in the Plaza – (Saturday, October 26, 3p-10p) We will need help doing set-up for our next Concert in Legacy Plaza on Saturday, October 26. The concert will be held from 6-9p, but we’ll likely be setting up in the afternoon.
  • Good Neighbor Weekend – (Saturday, Nov. 2, 9a-noon) The Civic Association has been selected as a site for ‘Good Neighbor Weekend’ work day by Northview Church. Northview will be bringing volunteers to help us build some fun furniture for Legacy Plaza, but we would like to have as many volunteers from the community as possible so that we can get as much as possible done. Volunteers will need to be able to operate hand tools that will be provided (power drills, screwdrivers, etc.) and it is preferred that they are at least 16 years old due to the nature of the work.
  • Tinsel Town – (December 6-7) Need volunteers to help us with miscellaneous tasks, especially in preparation for, day of, and clean-up of the event in early December.
  • For this and other opportunities with the Civic Association, please contact them at info@civicassoc.org
