National Night Out is August 4! Check with your local Near Eastside neighborhood group for block parties and local events.
Every year on the first Tuesday in August, millions of neighbors across the country gather for National Night Out—an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie, and crime prevention.
Because the Near Eastside is made up of 19 unique neighborhoods, there isn’t just one single NESCO event. Instead, celebrations happen directly on your block, in local parks, and at neighborhood meeting spaces!
Check with Your Neighborhood Association: Most Near Eastside neighborhood groups organize localized block parties, ice cream socials, cookouts, or park meetups.
Ask Your Block Captain or Neighbors: Reach out to local organizers or keep an eye out for flyers, social media updates, and neighborhood newsletters for specific times and locations.
Turn On Your Porch Light: A classic National Night Out tradition! Turn on your front porch light as a symbol of neighborhood unity and awareness.
Get Outside: Step onto your porch, walk your block, and take a moment to say hello to the people who live around you.
