How do you define “quality of life” for our community? Maybe it’s having litter-free streets and well-lit neighborhoods. Maybe it’s having strong locally-owned businesses, and a high employment rate.
Here’s the deal, for more than 40 years, Near Eastside neighbors have held onto the strong philosophy that ordinary residents can mobilize extraordinary growth and prosperity in their communities. Most recently, these efforts have been propelled forward by the Near Eastside Quality of Life Plan, an intensive, neighborhood-driven strategy for building the Near Eastside into a community that our residents can be proud of.
About 4 times per year, neighbors are encouraged to come out to the Neighborhood Summits to provide input and inspiration for this plan (for which John H. Boner Community Center is the convening agency), as well as to network with one another, and to provide progress reports on current initiatives.
So whether or not you’ve ever participated in a neighborhood event before, whether you feel very confident and competent in driving neighborhood initiatives or feel a bit like a fish out of water, we welcome and encourage you come out and add your voice.
For more information or to receive a reminder email specifically for this and future Summits, please contact CoraLyn Turentine, Director of Neighborhood Engagement for the John H. Boncer Community Center at cturentine@jhbcc.org or 317.808.2336
