Cottage Home Neighborhood Association invites the public to attend their annual block party on Saturday, October 15th from 5:00-11:00 p.m. This Halloween-themed party is held between the 700 blocks of Dorman Street and Highland Avenue, just south of E. St. Clair Street. The party takes place on Dorman Street, in the playground and in the community space; with a back drop that includes the wonderful 1890 Ruskaup Mansion, designed by Vonnegut & Bohn, as well as various Victorian-era cottages sprinkled throughout. Dorman Street, Cottage Home’s community owned playground and community space, featuring its newly built shelter will feature a host of activities throughout the entire event, with the musical styling of various local musicians on 2 stages, local artists and other vendors peppering the well lit and highly decorated areas.
Children of all ages are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes, and enjoy the horse drawn hay rides, pudding eating contest and other kids games and other activities. Food and beverages will be available from a variety of vendors.
This magical event is FREE to the public. However, for those that can afford it, a suggested donation of $5.00 helps pay for event expenses, entertainment, and future neighborhood projects. Proceeds will include helping the continued development of Cottage Home’s community space, beehive, green gathering space and gardens (including vegetables, herbs, wildflowers and fruit trees), all of which will bring a unique rural meets urban atmosphere for residents and friends of Cottage Home to enjoy well into the future.
