The home and garden tour is Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The 2014 tour celebrates the Cottage Home Neighborhood Association’s 30 years of redevelopment. The weekend kicks off with a twilight reception and behind-the-scenes tour showcasing four historic homes near the corner of Dorman and St. Clair Streets. Guests will enjoy wine and gourmet appetizers from Duos Kitchen and music by neighborhood musicians. Tour-goers will see eight eclectic homes and six gardens chosen to showcase the creative and diverse styles of the residents, with a mix of old and new construction.
The Twilight Tour Reception is Friday, May 16th, 6-9pm, with reservations due by May 12th. Tickets are $50 which include a pass for the weekend home tour.
The Home & Garden Tour is Saturday, May 17th and Sunday, May 18th from 11am-5pm. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at any of the tour homes.

The third Saturday of each month at the Legacy Center there’s a group that meets to teach kids computer programming (video games, websites, etc). They have been doing it for 2 years now and it is a ton of fun – and completely free of course. Students of Herron School of Art will turn a vacant St. Clair Place house into a temporary art gallery on April 25. Address: 831 N. Eastern Ave. Come see and then tour the neighborhood.

Oxford Place Senior Apartments Planning Sessions
All are welcome and encouraged to attend several planning sessions around the creation of the Oxford Place Senior Apartments on E. Washington Street. The dates and times are listed below. All planning sessions will take place at Englewood Christian Church, 57 N. Rural St., Indianapolis, IN 46201. If you can make all or most of the planning sessions that would be ideal. However, if you can only make one of them, that’s great too! Everyone’s input is welcome! The sessions will wrap up with a community celebration and cleanup on June 21st.

Mallory Eco-District Presentation
For the last semester, Ball State University students with the guidance of Dr. Bruce Race (Race Studios) have envisioned the P.R. Mallory Campus and Crown Laundry sites at 3000 E. Washington Street as an eco-district. This vision is consistent with the ReEnergize East Washington Street Catalyst Plan and congruent with recent and planned development such as Englewood/DayStar Childcare’s recent solar array and the proposed Oxford Place “Net Zero” Senior Apartments.
Please join us next Wednesday, April 30th (3:30-5 pm) at The CommonWealth (23 N. Rural) for the student’s final presentation and for the chance to begin considering how to implement this vision within the comprehensive “Make It Mallory” initiative.
Near Eastside Story Slam
The East End Story Syndicate is proud to present another Near Eastside Story Slam, May 2nd at 6pm at Tin Comet Coffee. The theme for this event is “Dream.” Come out for a fun evening of storytelling. There will be a sign up list so that you can tell your story. The only requirement – it has to be true! Story’s typically last no longer than 5 minutes and everyone is welcome to this free First Friday event.
