Reason for the Run:
Englewood Community Development Corporation (ECDC), has a history of working to strengthen the quality of life for our neighbors on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis. This focus has been maintained by offering quality, affordable housing to our diverse neighbors, such as low-income families, the formerly homeless, and those who live with mental illness. Daily, we learn how to better care for our neighbors. This has led us to host an annual 5 mile run/walk with the proceeds going towards rental scholarships for our neighbors who need assistance as they work to provide themselves and their families with a permanent, healthy, stable home. Popped Up Cinema: Racing Dreams
RACING DREAMS is a coming-of-age story that follows three young race car drivers with dreams of someday driving for NASCAR. The film has been described as “Catcher in the Rye meets Talladaga Nights.” Watch the trailer here: http://racingdreamsfilm.com/
The event is FREE and open to the public. Gates will open at 6:30, and the film begins at dusk.
Popped Up Cinema is funded by a $10,000 grant that the organization received in February of this year. Indy Film Fest, represented by Craig Mince, won the grant in a competition that gave individual presenters five slides and five minutes to tell the judging panel how they would improve Indy residents’ access to culture and creativity. The grant, known as the 5×5, is funded by the Efroymson Family Foundation, a CICF fund; and the Christel DeHaan Family Foundation.
Woodruff Place Home and Garden Tour

James O. Woodruff laid out Woodruff Place in 1872, envisioning a residential park with shade-covered sidewalks, fountains, statues, and wide streets with grassy esplanades, all inspired by European communities he had visited.
The home and garden tour is the primary fundraiser for the historic neighborhood. The neighborhood utilizes the funds raised to make improvements in the neighborhood, such as restoration of town hall, fountains, and 10th street wall.

National Dump The Pump Day – June 20, 2013
On June 20, 2013, American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and public transportation systems across the country will celebrate the 8th Annual National Dump the Pump Day.
In these tough economic times with high gas prices, everyone is looking for a way to save money. National Dump the Pump Day encourages people to ride public transportation (instead of driving) and save money.
Riding public transit is an economical way to save money, particularly when gas prices are high. The latest APTA Transit Savings Report shows that a two person household that downsizes to one car can save – on the average – more than $9,700 a year.
Show your support by walking, biking, taking IndyGo, carpooling, or finding some other form of transportation to get around on the 20th. Make a day of it and get your friends involved!

Community Action Grant – Peace Learning Center
Have you attended Focus 2020 workshops and become a Focus 2020 Graduate? This grant application is for you!
We’ve extended the application deadline to July 31, 2013 and will allow individuals who have not yet completed all of the Focus 2020 graduation requirements to apply. However, grant funds will only be awarded once all requirements have been met.
We’ve scheduled two Community Action Grant information sessions to help answer any questions you might have. (Click on one of the sessions below to register to attend.)
Attending one of these sessions is not required, though, it is highly recommended! We will post Q&A’s from these sessions online within 48 hours after each workshop for those who are unable to attend.
IndyHumane Animal Welfare Center
On Tuesdays, IndyHumane’s Animal Welfare Center will be offering low-cost vaccines, microchips, heartworm tests, and flea/heartworm prevention from 4-6 out of the Southeast Youth Center at 924 S. Shelby St.
