Marion County Surplus Real Estate Auction

After a parcel has gone through the annual tax sale and is not purchased, the county takes a lien on  the property. Surplus Auctions are held to sell these parcels. To sell the parcels, the county takes title in Marion County’s name by virtue of a tax title deed and removes all the taxes owing. The property is appraised and a minimum bid amount established. When property is purchased from the County, there is no redemption period.  The parcel is yours as soon as you receive the recorded deed. The property is conveyed by quitclaim deed, which the county records.  The next Surplus Real Estate Auction is on March 22, 2013.

Great Indy Cleanup

Lend A Hand & Keep Your Neighborhood Beautiful

KIB’s Great Indy Cleanup is an anti-litter program in partnership with the City of Indianapolis designed to combat heavy litter and debris that has accumulated in public spaces such as streets, alleys, greenspaces and waterways.  Many Near Eastside neighborhoods are taking part in this great community event.  Check with your neighborhood association to see if you’re participating.

Better Buildings/Energizing Indiana

There are individuals canvassing the neighborhoods on the Near Eastside from Energizing Indiana to talk about the Better Buildings program.  Please be aware that they will be knocking on doors in your neighborhood soon, if they haven’t already.  If you are concerned about safety, please ask these individuals for their identification and they will be more than happy to provide it.  If you do not wish to open your door to them, but still want to take part, feel free to contact Rachel Mattingly, Better Buildings Program Director, at rmattingly@jhbcc.org or you can give her a call at 317-808-2385.
