Event

What & Were:

I’m organizing a free event on November 9th, 2018 with Mr. Matt Hall, the Marion County Indiana Veterans Service Officer. The event is called RED Friday, for Remember Everyone Deployed. The concept is based on the Veteran’s Town Hall idea from Sebastian Junger’s Book “Tribe”. As a four-combat deployment 82nd Airborne veteran, I believe events that help connect society together, and society with the realities of war, are important and too few.

RED Friday will consist of a free movie, “The Hornet’s Nest”, a documentary about an intense nine-day fight in Afghanistan that the 101st Airborne Division participated in. Mr. David Salzburg, who is incredible, has given us permission to use the movie. After the movie, we’ll have an open mic for combat veterans to speak about their experiences in war.

This is an inaugural event, and we’re looking to increase awareness and get as many people (veterans and non-veterans) as we can to attend. We would like for this event to be a shared experience between the layers of society that don’t normally interact concerning armed conflict, and we do have a secondary goal of the event – connecting veterans who need it with counseling.

Any help you or your office can offer would be incredible. I can send a flyer to help, if provided a good email to send it to.  I’m looking forward to working with you!
