Paramount Peace Park Dedication
What & Were:

Paramount School of Excellence invites the public to celebrate the completion of its community Peace Park. The dedication event will recognize the project’s multitude of collaborators and observe National Barrier Awareness Day. Program participants include U.S. Paralympic medalist, Nick Springer  and representatives from the Mayor’s Office of Disability Affairs.

What:             Paramount Peace Park Dedication

When:            Sunday, May 7, 2017 1:30 p.m.

Where:           Paramount School of Excellence, 3020 Nowland Ave., Indianapolis

With a vision to create a welcoming space amid the Brookside Neighborhood, Paramount School of Excellence transformed an unused and desolate space into an inspirational pocket park. The conversion did not happen overnight; it took six years and a multitude of collaborations to bring the vision for the Paramount Peace Park to fruition. Community and school volunteers spent thousands of hours removing invasive plants to transfigure the tree-lined plot into a welcoming urban oasis.

Following the physical site reformation, three public art collaborations culminated with the installation of numerous large and small scale artworks. The installations embody a unique incorporation of the space’s physical assets with thoughtful connectivity to the neighborhood. Among the forestry of the Paramount Peace Park, visitors can view the sculptures at street level or from two elevated observation decks that are accessible to everyone via an ADA compliant ramp.
