About Fletcher Park
Fletcher Park is one of Indianapolis’ oldest parks. Donated to the city by the Fletcher family in the 1870s, the park contained a fountain, benches and planted flower beds. Many of the original trees and the basic hardscaping and layout remain as they were in the late 1800’s. The park was also included in the Kessler parks and boulevard plan. The park was removed from the park system and turned over to the private sector in the 1970s. Through a generous donation from the National Bank of Indianapolis and with the assistance of the East 10th Street Civic Association, Windsor Park Neighborhood Association obtained ownership of Fletcher Park in 2013. WPNA is working to restore and revitalize the park as an “art and nature park”. Much progress has been made this year, thanks in no small part to the following project partners: KIBI (IPL Project Greenspace), The Arts Council of Indianapolis, Lilly Day of Service, the Circle City Industrial Complex artists/vendors and RecycleForce. Andrew Severns’ “Sundial-Flatland” is the park’s first piece of public art.
