The Benton House Association proudly presents its annual Benton House Tour of Homes on Sunday, September 16th from 12 pm to 5pm. Celebrating its 45th year this year’s tour features many historical homes and landmarks, showcasing the rich history and architectural diversity of the Irvington community.

The theme of the tour this year is “Old Retold”; the stops on this year’s tour have a long and storied history and the current occupants are looking forward to ‘retelling’ their story for current and future generations.

The 2018 tour stops are as follows:

The Historic Benton House, 312 South Downey Avenue

Built in 1873, the Benton House was once home of Butler University president Dr. Allen R. Benton. Be sure to stop by the Benton House to take a tour of this magnificent piece of Indianapolis history. We will also be featuring the Grove Japanese Imports classy car show on the Benton House grounds as well as featuring live music by several area bands. If you are hungry Dogs To Go and Gordon’s Ice Cream will be on site to satisfy your taste buds.

The former library of the Butler University campus during its time in Irvington; now home to the Irvington Historical Society. Join us for the 45th Benton House Tour of Home – the longest consecutively running home tour in the city of Indianapolis!

Tickets can be purchased online via EventBrite and are also available for purchase at the following Irvington businesses:

Black Sheep Gifts (cash or check only)

Hampton Design Studios (cash or check only)

Central Ace Hardware (cash, check or charge)

Tickets are $12 in advance of the tour and $15 the day of the tour. Tickets can be purchased at any of the tour stops on the day of the tour. Those buying their ticket on the day of the tour can pay with credit card at the Benton House.

The annual Benton House Tour of Homes is the biggest fundraiser for the Historic Benton House. All proceeds from the tour will go directly towards the upkeep and maintenance of the house, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Proceeds from past tours have gone towards permanent signage in the front yard, a new slate roof, gutters and downspouts, new event chairs, landscaping, and foundation repairs, just to name a few. We appreciate your support for this important event.
