What & Were:

The Benton House Association proudly presents its annual Benton House Tour of Homes and 10th Classy Car Show on Sunday, September 15th from 12 pm to 5pm. Celebrating its 46th year this year’s tour features many historical homes and landmarks, showcasing the rich history and architectural diversity of the Irvington community.

The 2019 tour stops are still being finalized and will be updated closer to the event.

All proceeds from the Tour & Car Show benefit the maintenance of this historic gem located at 312 South Downey Avenue.

Built in 1873, the Benton House was once home of Butler University president Dr. Allen R. Benton. Be sure to stop by the Benton House to take a tour of this magnificent piece of Indianapolis history. We will also be featuring the Grove Japanese Imports classy car show on the Benton House grounds as well as featuring live music and Dogs To Go by Uncle Zo and Gordon’s Ice Cream will be on site to satisfy your taste buds again this year.

Tickets are $15 in advance of the tour and $20 the day of the tour. Tickets can be purchased at any of the tour stops on the day of the tour. Those buying their ticket on the day of the tour can pay with credit card at the Benton House.

The annual Benton House Tour of Homes is the biggest fundraiser for the Historic Benton House. All proceeds from the tour will go directly towards the upkeep and maintenance of the house, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Proceeds from past tours have gone towards permanent signage in the front yard, a new slate roof, gutters and downspouts, new event chairs, landscaping, and foundation repairs, just to name a few. We appreciate your support for this important event.

We would like to thank the corporate sponsors of this year’s tour. It would not be possible without their support. Please let them know you much you appreciate them by frequenting them often!

Named one of Indianpolis Monthly’s ‘hot neighborhoods’ and the next foodie ‘hot spot’ by the Indy Star, Irvington is the city’s largest historic district, founded in 1870. It’s currently seeing yet another boom of new business moving in. The home tour is also the kick-off to a lineup of great events during the fall in Irvington, culminating with Irvington’s famous Halloween festival. Make this year’s Home Tour your reason to “Discover Irvington”
