Remote Complaint Intake Series

ICRC to Host New Remote Complaint Intake Series

INDIANAPOLIS—The Indiana Civil Rights Commission (ICRC), in partnership with Indianapolis Public Libraries (IPL), has launched a new community initiative: the Remote Complaint Intake Series. ICRC’s intake specialists, who initially take complaints of discrimination in five areas of enforcement: employment, housing, education, public accommodation, and credit, will be on-site taking complaints in person. The series will take the ICRC intake staff to various IPL locations around Indianapolis’ greater metropolitan area, in an effort to better serve the community’s increasing population. The series is completely free of charge and will take place from 10 AM-6 PM. Complainants will be able to speak privately with an intake specialist, draft their formal complaint, sign it, and have it move to the investigation staff, streamlining the process.

The following dates are scheduled and additional dates are posted on ICRC’s website.

June 18-22, Central Branch

July 16-20, East Washington Street Branch

“Being able to bring our office directly in the community is exactly the type of grassroots approach our agency will be focusing on moving forward,” said Greg Wilson, Sr., Executive Director of ICRC. “Understanding that some of residents have barriers in filing complaints, through the Remote Complaint Intake Series we are able to meet them where they are.”

For more information on the Remote Complaint Intake Series, your rights and responsibilities under Indiana Civil Rights Law, or to request an accommodation at the above event, visit ICRC’s website or call 317-232-2600.

When an individual feels they have been discriminated against they can file a complaint three ways: call (317)-232-2600, visit our website at www.in.gov/icrc or file a complaint in person at the ICRC office in the Indiana Government Center North.
